What Are Emotions?
Emotions are feelings we have inside They help us understand ourselves and others Everyone experiences emotions - they are normal! Our faces and bodies show how we feel Learning about emotions helps us make good choices
Happy - The Joy Emotion
When do we feel happy? Getting a good grade on a test Playing with friends Celebrating birthdays Achieving something we worked hard for Face: Big smile, bright eyes, relaxed
Sad - When We Feel Down
When do we feel sad? When a pet dies or moves away Missing family or friends Not being included in games When something disappointing happens Face: Droopy eyes, turned-down mouth, tears
Angry - The Strong Feeling
When do we feel angry? When someone is unfair to us When we're frustrated with difficult tasks When our belongings are taken without asking When rules seem unfair Face: Frowning, tight jaw, red cheeks
Scared - Feeling Afraid
When do we feel scared? During thunderstorms or loud noises Trying something new for the first time Watching scary movies Being in the dark Face: Wide eyes, open mouth, tense body
Excited - Full of Energy!
When do we feel excited? Before school trips or holidays Getting a new pet or toy Birthdays and special celebrations Starting a new sport or hobby Face: Wide smile, bright eyes, bouncy energy
