What is Empathy?
Empathy is when we try to understand how someone else feels, even if we haven't felt the same way ourselves
Storytelling Activity
Listen to a story about a character with strong feelings Think about how the character felt and why Share your own experiences with similar feelings Use our emotion words to describe feelings
Reflection Questions
How do you think the character felt and why? Have you ever felt like this before? What happened when you felt this way? How did others help you or how did you help others?
Role Play Activity
Work in groups of 4-5 students Act out scenarios showing empathy Use sentence stems: 'I can see you feel...' or 'It sounds like you are feeling...' Practice active listening and caring responses
