📖 The Lost Kiwi Egg - Story Text

Read this story carefully. We will read it together as a class using choral reading.

Kiri the kiwi bird was very worried. Her precious egg had gone missing from the burrow!
She heard a soft rustle in the ferns nearby. "Could that be my egg?" she wondered.
Kiri searched carefully through the bush. A fantail flitted past her beak.
"Have you seen my egg?" Kiri asked the little bird.
"Check by the stream," chirped the fantail. "I saw something white there."
Kiri hurried to the stream. There, nestled safely between two rocks, was her egg!
She gently rolled it back to her burrow. "Safe at last," she sighed happily.
