What Are Music Notes?
Music notes are symbols that represent sounds They tell us which sound to play Each note has a different pitch (high or low) Notes help musicians play the same song
The Musical Staff
The staff has 5 lines and 4 spaces Notes sit on lines or in spaces It's like a ladder for music notes The staff helps us know how high or low notes are
Let's Count Together!
Count the staff lines: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 Count the spaces: 1, 2, 3, 4 Point to different lines and spaces Practice with your finger in the air
The Treble Clef
The treble clef sits at the beginning of the staff It looks like a fancy swirl It tells us we're reading higher sounds Most melodies use the treble clef
Note Names: The Musical Alphabet
Music uses only 7 letters: A, B, C, D, E, F, G After G, we start over with A again It's like a circle that never ends Every note has one of these letter names
