Apartheid
Long ago in South Africa, people were treated differently. People were separated into groups (like “white” and “black”).These groups were not treated equally. Non-white people were not allowed to live, go to school, or use places in the same way as white people. This made Mandela and other people very sad and angry. Apartheid was like making some children in a school follow strict, unfair rules just because of how they look, while others got all the privileges.
