1 Point Perspective Starter Tasks
Independent practice activities Year 9 Art 30 minutes

Task 1: Find the Vanishing Point
Look at the image provided Mark where all the lines meet This is your vanishing point Use a small dot to mark it clearly

Task 2: Quick Knowledge Check
What is a vanishing point? Where is it usually located? Why do parallel lines appear to meet? Write your answers in your sketchbook

Task 3: Draw Your Horizon Line
Use a ruler to draw a straight horizontal line Place it about 1/3 from the top of your page Mark a vanishing point in the center This will be your foundation

Task 4: Simple Box Challenge
Draw a square in the center of your page Add guidelines from each corner to your vanishing point Complete the 3D box shape Keep lines light and precise

Task 5: Multiple Boxes
Draw 3 different sized squares on your page Each at different positions Convert all into 3D boxes using guidelines All should share the same vanishing point

Task 6: Perspective Checklist
{"left":"All parallel lines converge to vanishing point\nObjects get smaller as they recede\nHorizon line stays consistent","right":"Construction lines are light\nShapes maintain proportion\nDepth appears realistic"}

Task 7: Simple Room Interior
Draw a rectangle for the back wall Add guidelines to create floor and ceiling Include a simple door or window Keep details minimal and focus on structure

Task 8: Problem Solving
Look at your drawings so far Which one looks most realistic? Which one was most challenging? What would you do differently? Discuss with a partner

Task 9: Add Details
Choose your best box or room drawing Add simple details like windows, doors, or patterns Keep using your vanishing point for all new lines Details should follow the same perspective rules
