Sequence Rule Cards: A single A4 printable with a 3-column grid of rectangular cards separated by dashed cut lines; each card is numbered in a blue circle, has a coloured icon (e.g. +, -, ×, ÷, n, square, cube, triangle, dots/line for Fibonacci), a bold title (e.g. ADD A CONSTANT, MULTIPLY BY A CONSTANT, LINEAR (nth TERM), SQUARE NUMBERS), a short definition sentence, an example sequence of terms, and a compact symbolic rule in parentheses beneath the example (e.g. (+3), (×2), (3n + 1), (n^2))....

About this printable

This A4 printable is a grid of cut-apart cards, each showing a named sequence type (e.g. Add a constant, Multiply by a constant, Linear n-th term, Square numbers, Fibonacci) with an icon, a one-line definition, an example sequence and a compact symbolic rule where appropriate. Use it to introduce, classify and practise recognising sequence rules, to build connections between term lists and algebraic nth-term notation, and as a hands-on sorting or matching activity. The language is concise but includes algebraic notation (e.g. 3n+1, n^2), so it works best when pupils are already familiar with basic algebraic symbols.
