About this illustration
A two-panel Roman Numerals Chart for classroom use. The left panel is a three-column table listing Roman numerals (I through M), their Arabic values (1–1000), and matching examples. The right panel shows two rules: (1) symbols add when equal or larger to the right, illustrated with V + I = VI; (2) a smaller symbol before a larger means subtract, illustrated with IV=4, IX=9, XL=40. A decorative Greek/Roman column with laurel leaves appears at the bottom right.
