Definition of a Noun
A noun is a word that names: • A person (teacher, student, friend) • A place (school, park, Canada) • A thing (book, computer, chair) • An idea or feeling (happiness, freedom) • A group (family, team, class)

Common vs Proper Nouns

Abstract vs Concrete Nouns
Concrete Nouns: • Things you can see, hear, touch, smell, or taste • Examples: apple, music, perfume, sandpaper Abstract Nouns: • Ideas, feelings, or concepts you cannot touch • Examples: happiness, freedom, courage, friendship
