Towering Designs Start Here!
Year 3 Technology Introduction to Tower Design Building Strong and Stable Structures

What is a Tower?
Think about towers you've seen What makes them special? How are they different from other buildings?

Famous Towers Around the World
Sydney Tower - Australia's tallest structure Eiffel Tower - Famous iron tower in Paris CN Tower - Tall communication tower in Canada All are built to be strong and stable!

What Makes Towers Strong and Stable?
STRENGTH - can hold weight without breaking STABILITY - stays upright and doesn't fall over Good foundations and bases Smart shapes like triangles Balanced design

Our Tower Building Materials
Plastic straws - light and flexible Rubber bands - stretchy, hold parts together Masking tape - sticks well, secures connections Each material has special properties!

Safe Material Handling
Handle scissors with adult help only Don't stretch rubber bands too much - they might snap! Share materials fairly with your group Keep workspace clean and organized Ask for help if you need it

Brainstorming Time!
Work in groups of 4-5 students Sketch your tower ideas Think about: How tall? How stable? What shapes will make it stronger? Share all your creative ideas!

Design Thinking Questions
How tall do you want your tower to be? How will you make sure it doesn't fall down? What shapes might make it stronger? Where should the base be wide or narrow? How will you connect the pieces?

Sharing Our Ideas
{"left":"Each group shares 1-2 tower ideas\nListen respectfully to other groups\nLook for creative solutions","right":"Notice different approaches\nLearn from each other's designs\nAsk helpful questions"}

Ready to Build!
Next lesson: We build our towers! Remember: strength and stability Use your brainstorming ideas Work safely with materials Help your teammates Have fun creating!
