The Long Journey to Australia
Challenge 1: No Proper Homes
Convicts arrived with no houses ready Had to sleep in tents and temporary shelters Weather could be hot, cold, or rainy Needed protection from animals and insects

Solution Thinking: Building Homes
Work in pairs Draw or describe a simple shelter Use materials you might find in Australia Think about protection from sun and rain

Real Solution: Working Together
Convicts helped each other build Used local materials like wood and bark Shared skills - some knew carpentry Built barracks for many people to live together
