Seeing the World Through Camera Angles
Year 3 Visual Literacy Exploring Different Camera Views
What Are Camera Angles?
Camera angles are different ways to look at things They change how we feel about what we see Just like how you can look at your friend from above, below, or straight on!
Eye Level View
Looking straight at something Same height as what we're looking at Feels normal and friendly Like talking to a friend face-to-face
Spot the Eye Level!
Look around the classroom Find something at your eye level Share what you found with a partner
High Angle View
Looking down at something Camera is above the subject Makes things look small or vulnerable Like looking down at an ant on the ground
Low Angle View
Looking up at something Camera is below the subject Makes things look big and powerful Like looking up at a tall tree or building
Which Angle Would You Use?
To make a superhero look powerful? To show a baby kitten looking cute? To talk to your best friend?
Bird's Eye View
Looking straight down from very high up Like a bird flying overhead Shows the whole scene from above Great for seeing patterns and layouts
Close-Up View
Very close to the subject Shows lots of detail Focuses on one important thing Like looking at a flower's petals up close
Camera Angle Detective
Look at the pictures your teacher shows you Identify which camera angle is used Explain how it makes you feel about the subject
Remember
Camera angles help us tell stories and share feelings through pictures!
