Humans and Habitats: Our Impact
How do people affect animals and plants? Learning about our environment
WALT and Success Criteria
WALT: We Are Learning To investigate how human activity affects living things Success Criteria: ✓ I can identify 2 ways humans impact habitats ✓ I can answer questions about human impacts correctly
What is a Habitat?
A habitat is the natural home of animals and plants It provides everything they need to survive: • Food • Water • Shelter • Space to live and grow
Human Impact #1: Deforestation
Deforestation means cutting down trees When forests are cleared: • Animals lose their homes • Plants are destroyed • Food sources disappear • Animals must find new places to live
Human Impact #2: Pollution
Pollution makes the environment dirty and unsafe Types of pollution that harm living things: • Rubbish in rivers and oceans • Smoke in the air • Chemicals on the ground • Plastic waste everywhere
Negative vs Positive Human Actions
{"left":"Cutting down forests\nThrowing rubbish in nature\nUsing too many cars\nHunting too many animals","right":"Planting new trees\nRecycling rubbish\nCreating nature parks\nProtecting endangered animals"}

What We Learned Today
"We can make choices that help or harm the places where animals and plants live." Remember: • Humans can impact habitats in good and bad ways • We can help by recycling, planting trees, and protecting nature • Every small action makes a difference!
