What is a Digit?
A digit is a single number symbol We have 10 digits: 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9 Digits are the building blocks of all numbers

Look at the number 25 Can you find the two digits? Point to each digit and say its name

Single Digit Numbers
Numbers 0 to 9 have only one digit Each number shows its own value Examples: 3 means three, 7 means seven

Finding Digit Values
Each digit in a number has its own value In the number 37: the 3 is worth 3, the 7 is worth 7 We read digits from left to right
